letter to birthmother and family

Dear Friend,

We think about and pray for you often. You must have incredible strength and love to even consider the selfless act of adoption. We want you to know that no matter what you decide, your Heavenly Father loves you and we hope that you can find comfort and support in knowing this.

Our story begins at a wedding, but not our own.  Luckily all the weddings Jordan was attending finally paid off when it happened to be our mutual friends.  We talked about retainers and cell phones and somehow we still made it to our first date. From then on we spent as much time as we possibly could together.  One snowy night Jordan got down on one knee and proposed, the answer was YES of course! We will soon be celebrating our fifth anniversary. The story gets better... on March 25th, 2010 Hayden came into our world and changed our lives forever. We went from movie night to bath night; from unwind time to story time.  And we love it. It has been a blast and each day offers its challenges and joys but we continue to look forward to living every step of it together.

Board games, camping, trips to the beach, St. George, Jazz Basketball, walks around the neighborhood with our dog Regis, Redbox, family, and friends are just a few of our favorite things.

I would hope that you could have the opportunity to meet Erin. She has the brightest personality and the biggest smile in the world.  Erin is a friend to many; it doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 80, she is always going out of her way to make someone feel included. I envy the way she makes new acquaintances so easily and quickly. It is incredible to watch Erin as a mother; the love and dedication she has for her child is such an amazing thing to be a part of. I often see Erin singing or dancing with Hayden and she loves to bring his little toys to life. She is always up for fun. Erin has been such an amazing support to me, always encouraging me to further my education, work hard but play hard and do worthwhile things. Erin is very active; she loves to hike, go camping, vacation, run, swim, ride her bike, wakeboard, snowboard, cook, paint, and spend time with her friends and family. Erin has a strong spirit and when she puts her mind to something, does not give up. She is an amazing wife and mother and my best friend.

Every day I think I must have done something really great to have deserved such a wonderful husband. He is consistent through the hard times and the good times. We share lots of laughter, tears, challenges, and all our successes together. Jordan is one of the most selfless and giving people I know.  When I was working and Hayden was still waking up in the middle of the night Jordan would volunteer to go and feed him his bottle, just so I could have a couple extra hours of sleep.  He still does stuff like this, offers to help my parents move furniture, or change Hayden’s clothes, or go to the grocery store.  His nature is genuinely patient, honest, kind, and hard working. He is an amazing father. I know that one thing he has to offer that is of great value is his love; he gives it freely and unconditionally every day.  He gives all of himself to me and our family. I know this will only increase as our family does. I am so lucky to be his wife.

We are so blessed to have our little Hayden.  Erin has health problems that would cause complication in pregnancy, so adoption is a true miracle to us. Hayden has the brightest smile which is very contagious and lights up any room he is in.  He is very social and loves to be with his friends and family.  It is not hard to get him laughing, so much to where you can’t stop laughing either.  His favorite sports and hobbies are basketball, vacuuming, eating, and dancing.  He is happy to follow around his dog Regis, and thinks it is great to hold the leash while we take him for a walk.  We want to take a moment to express our love for both Hayden’s birth parents.  They are angels to us and Hayden, and we love them.

When it comes to us, we feel so lucky to be able to spend so much time together.  Jordan just finished Graduate school and has accepted an excellent position in his field.  Erin is a full time mom having a blast learning from Hayden all the best parts about life. Life is busy but we are each other’s friends and love doing everyday things together even cleaning and laundry. Our love for each other grows more and more as we grow and try to become like our Savior Jesus Christ.

We will never know what you have gone through or what it took for you to consider this decision but we want you to be assured that we would want you and your family to have every chance to have an open relationship with us and your child. It is important to us to help you through this time and communicate to you our desires as well as hear yours. We want this child to have every chance to be raised by a loving mother and father and to provide a home and future that is endless with opportunity. Thank you for learning about our family and we pray that you will find peace as you find the right family for your child.

Love,
Jordan and Erin
